Nicolas Prodhomme
"You have to enjoy it
"I'm very happy with this podium finish. For me, as someone who is mostly a team player, it's great to get a result when I'm given the chance. It's something to savor.
The Tour l'Ain is a race I enjoy and know well. This was my third time participating in as many seasons as a professional.
The restart was slow on Saturday (July 29) at the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa, but I felt better and better over the last three days. On Tuesday, my sixth place in the second stage gave me confidence. And today, I managed to attack five kilometers from the finish, take fifth place, and gain the two seconds that allowed me to get on the podium in the overall classification.
In the final, Jaakko (Hänninen) could also have seized his chance, but he chose to ride for me. The team did a great job on this Tour l'Ain and I thank them for that.
I have been improving every year since I joined the AG2R CITROËN team. A result like this proves to me that I shouldn't have any complexes. I want to continue this momentum and take risks to achieve even better results. It makes me dream."
