Tour Guangxi: Victor Lafay finishes second in the queen stage
Victor Lafay
"A satisfactory result. "
"We knew we had to get a good result today with this last climb, which suited my qualities and those of Aurélien (Paret-Peintre). The team did a great job of getting us to the foot of the climb, but unfortunately Aurélien crashed. I concentrated on the race, followed the movements of my rivals and was able to count on the support of Nans (Peters) to maintain the pace on the less steep part. I knew I had to make my effort 300 metres from the line and not before. So I waited and that's what enabled me to take second place. I'm satisfied, even if I think we could have done even better collectively with a bit more luck. I'm second in the overall classification on the eve of the final stage, and we're going to give it our all to go for victory tomorrow."
