Paul Lapeira
"I'm really happy about this victory"
“I’m really happy with this victory. I felt like my legs were in great shape today. I followed the right move a little over 100 km from the finish, which allowed me to stay in the group and contend for the win. But the six- riders -strong breakaway had to stay together on the final climb for me to have a chance. I tried to dissuade the other riders in the group from attacking and hung on because I knew I was the fastest in the sprint. I then launched my sprint well before the line. I was keeping an eye on my rivals, and since no one was attacking, I saw an opening. I felt strong, and I’m glad it all worked out in the end. We still have a good chance of achieving strong results in Italy with the Coppa Bernocchi and the Tre Valli Varesine.”
