«It's great to achieve this result after a difficult year. Victory was within reach, but Groupama-FDJ played very well in the final stretch and Valentin Madouas was strong.
We had a great day as a team and it's nice to be rewarded with a podium finish. Personally, I felt great during this stage. I'm happy to have managed to get back to this level after breaking my finger on 3 August during the second stage of the Vuelta a Burgos. It bodes well for the future.
We will try to win a stage, but we will also try to achieve a good overall ranking. Even though the individual time trial (26.1 km) will create significant gaps, it is always good to have a few bonus seconds.
