DORIAN GODON: «Happy to raise my arms»

«After two victories in the prologue (Boucles de la Mayenne 2018-2019), I am delighted to raise my arms for the first time as a professional. I've been feeling good for a few weeks now, but whether it was at the Tour du Poitou-Charentes or the Grand Prix d'Isbergues, the courses weren't selective enough to make a difference and avoid a mass sprint. Today, it was a great battle that started fifty kilometres from the finish line to catch up with the breakaway. Ten kilometres from the finish, on the final climb, the two of us managed to break away. And I never worried about the peloton. This victory is a real morale booster ahead of the Flèche Wallonne (30 September) and Liège-Bastogne-Liège (4 October).»

Andrea Vendrame finished fourth in the race, eight seconds behind Dorian Godon.
