Andrea Vendrame

«The shape is there.»

«I'm happy with this podium finish. After coming fifth in my comeback race at the Classica Comunitat Valenciana (22 January), this is another good result for me and for the team.

We were well represented in the final and the lads worked well. I started my sprint a bit early, but with the headwind, I was worried that those behind would catch up with more speed.

In any case, it proves that I'm in good shape. I didn't expect to perform so well right from the start of the season. I changed the way I train and it's paying off. However, I know I can still improve, so that's a positive sign.

The goal will be to quickly raise my arms in victory, perhaps as early as the Tour of Oman (11-15 February). Two stages suit my strengths.»
