«The two riders in front were out of reach, so I knew I had to be patient and manage my climb as best I could. It's great to compete against riders of this calibre! My season ends tonight, so I knew I had to give it my all. I have fond memories of Italy this year (winner of stage 17 of the Giro), but for my third professional season, what stands out most is that I've reached a new level. I'm continuing to improve and I hope that will continue next year.»

End of career for Hubert Dupont
After 1,199 days of racing and 182,961 kilometres (source: ProCyclingStats), Hubert Dupont ended his professional career today: «It was a day of fun. I had already ridden in this area many times before, and with RCS organising the event, I felt like I was at home in the Giro! It brought back a lot of memories! My career is over, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop riding with my friends! Just for fun!»
