«It was a very difficult first stage. The final climb was climbed at full speed. I was a bit stuck behind and sprinted to catch up. A top 10 finish to start with is a good sign. Things will get better and better in the next stages.«

Felix Gall, who is competing in his first Grand Tour, finished 18th in the stage. «I expected a more tense start, but in the end everything went well, without too much stress. I had good legs in the final,» he said.
Lawrence Naesen took his chance in the final. «It wasn't planned. I was coming back up to help Felix and Andrea, and as I had speed, I gave it a go,» he admits.

Oliver Naesen is 11 seconds behind the leader at the start of the final weekend of the Four Days of Dunkirk. ’The first stages followed the same pattern, ending in a sprint, and the group responded well. We're still in contention for the last two days and Oliver has what it takes to put in a great performance,’ explains Stéphane Goubert, sports director of the AG2R CITROËN team.
