Clément Champoussin: «It's a great pleasure to win ahead of the overall favourites.»
«When we were caught up by the group of favourites, it was complicated. I couldn't keep up with them on the steep section. Gino Mäder then brought us back, and even though I couldn't keep up with them when they attacked, I hung on. With just over a kilometre to go, I saw them looking at each other. I came in fast and got enough of a lead to make it to the line. I was lucky. It's a bit unexpected. Over these three weeks, I've had ups and downs, and yesterday I wasn't feeling well. I didn't think I'd be at the front today, but I found myself with Lilian Calmejane and Stan Dewulf, two teammates I like. They helped me a lot, so I couldn't afford to mess up. It's really cool, I'm surprised. I'm beating some great riders, which makes it even more enjoyable.»
Julien Jurdie« The whole team deserves this victory. »
«What a day! Clement Champoussin achieved an incredible performance that rewarded the hard work of the entire team since the start of La Vuelta a Espana. The lads worked their socks off for three weeks and it hadn't paid off yet. Today, we still had three riders at the front. Lilian Calmejane finished 12th and Stan Dewulf 14th in the stage, Geoffrey Bouchard and Clement Champoussin are 16th and 18th in the overall standings respectively, the whole team deserves this victory.»
