Benoît Cosnefroy
« A good day for me and for the team »
«It's a good day for me and for the team. Of course, the goal this morning at the start was to win. But when you're beaten by someone stronger, you just have to say «well done». There were sporting events all day long, and we managed to attend them all. The team was really strong, and I want to thank the guys for their tremendous work throughout the stage. These are special days where tactics play a big role. It's nice to be at the front and not have to suffer through the race. There are still some great stages ahead where we can compete at the front again.»
”I would like to thank the lads for their tremendous work throughout the stage.

The figure
Third place for Benoît Cosnefroy This is his second podium finish in the first stage of the Étoile de Bessèges. He took second place in 2020 before winning the overall classification.
«It was a difficult and tense stage, but the lads remained strong and focused right to the end. Benoît (Cosnefroy) was ideally placed before the final sprint, but he and Mads Pedersen (2nd) came up against a great Arnaud De Lie (1st).
We will continue to take each stage as it comes without thinking about the overall standings.» said Stéphane Goubert, sporting director of the AG2R CITROËN team.
