Benoît Cosnefroy

«Brittany suits me well.»

«We had to be patient during this Tour du Finistère. The team took responsibility right from the start of the race with Oscar. (Chamberlain). After that, we decided not to ride any more because there weren't many of us in the peloton and other teams took over. Circumstances meant that we were in contention for the win even though there was a very strong breakaway. In the end, it went very well with Tom. (Donnenwirth) which propelled me into the final kilometre. I managed to manoeuvre well in the sprint to win. Brittany suits me well after winning the Grand Prix du Morbihan last week. I'm leading the Coupe de France, which is good news. It's not necessarily a goal, but it's races like this that will allow me to be high in the rankings, so I'm happy about that.»

The figure

While Valentin Paret-Peintre was a key player in the day's action at the Giro d'Italia, two riders from the DECATHLON AG2R LA MONDIALE team finished in the top 10 of the eighth stage: Ben O'Connor in third place and Alex Baudin in tenth. « I'm really pleased with how the stage went., responded the Australian. The team was very strong, and I was constantly surrounded by my teammates. I gave it my all in the final sprint. I followed Daniel Martinez's wheel, trying to find an opening to overtake him. Third place is a good result in a mountain finish on the Giro. I hope to do even better next time. »

In the overall standings, Ben O'Connor consolidates his fourth place and Alex Baudin, now the top French rider, moves up to thirteenth place.
