«It's a great podium finish, even though I would have preferred to win. Kwiatkowski was faster than me in the sprint. It was a close call. We can all be proud of this podium finish.
I felt good and the goal was to be at the front. During the race, I felt that I was one of the strongest riders. In the final, I did a lot of the work.
There are three Ardennes left and the momentum has started.»

With his second place finish in the Amstel Gold Race, Benoit Cosnefroy steps onto the podium for the third time in a UCI WorldTour one-day race, following his second place finish in the Flèche Wallonne in 2020 and his victory in the Bretagne Classic in 2021.

This is the second time since the team was founded in 1992 that a rider has stood on the podium at the Amstel Gold Race.
Rolf Jaermann won the race in 1998.
