Nicolas Prodhomme

«You have to savour it.»

«I'm very happy with this podium finish. For me, as someone who is mostly a team player, it's great to achieve a result when I'm given the chance. It's something to savour.
The Tour de l'Ain is a race that I enjoy and know well. It was my third time participating in as many seasons as a professional.
The recovery had been slow on Saturday (29 July) during the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa, but I felt better and better over the last three days. On Tuesday, my sixth place in the second stage gave me confidence. And today, I managed to attack five kilometres from the finish, take fifth place and gain the two seconds that allowed me to climb onto the podium in the overall classification.
In the final, Jaakko (Hänninen) could also have seized his chance, but he chose to ride for me. The team did a great job on this Tour de l'Ain and I thank them for that.
I have improved every year since joining the AG2R CITROËN team. A result like this proves to me that I shouldn't have any hang-ups. I want to keep up this momentum and take risks to achieve even better results. It makes me dream.»
