«I did a high-altitude training camp after the Critérium du Dauphiné, which allowed me to push myself further in preparation for the French time trial championships. It represents a title and a blue, white and red jersey for a year, which is important. It's a discipline I really enjoy, I like the solitary effort and managing the exercise. I'm going to reconnoitre the course this afternoon and tomorrow. I've already analysed it on paper, and I find it interesting. It's similar to the Critérium du Dauphiné time trial, which I finished in eighth place and first among the French riders, with roughly the same distance, fairly flat at the start and then getting harder and harder. I'll need to have the legs for it on the day.»
