«It was a great race. The team's strategy was executed perfectly, which put us in a good position at the bottom of the final climb. Victor (Lafay) and I were able to make our climb in very good conditions thanks to superb teamwork. I was in good shape today and felt good when I attacked. I gave it my all and I'm happy with how I managed my effort in the final. I wasn't sure about my physical condition, so I'm pleased with the result. Even though I would have liked to win, it bodes well for the rest of the weekend.»

Well placed during Thursday's second stage, Clément Berthet managed to take second place in the overall classification of the Vuelta a Andalucia, which he retains at the end of the third stage. In a sprint finish, Oliver Naesen took fifth place in the stage.
