Geoffrey Bouchard, Paul Lapeira, Oliver Naesen and Andrea Vendrame have signed contract extensions with the AG2R CITROËN team until 2025.
For his part, Larry Warbasse has extended his contract for one season.
Oliver Naesen has been with the team since 2017, Geoffrey Bouchard and Larry Warbasse since 2019, Andrea Vendrame since 2020 and Paul Lapeira since 2022.
Vincent Lavenu: «They are all part of our history.»
«This wave of contract extensions is an important moment in building the team for future seasons. While new faces will be joining us, seeing these riders extend their contracts with our organisation is essential. They are the glue that holds the team together. They are all part of its history and uphold its philosophy.»
Geoffrey Bouchard: «The logical next step»
«This is the logical next step. I would like to thank Vincent (Lavenu) and the entire team for giving me this opportunity five years ago and for placing their trust in me again for the next two seasons.
I have managed to put many things in place since the beginning of this adventure, but there is still more to be done.
I am very enthusiastic about continuing to progress in the various roles that the team entrusts me with. On the one hand, that of leader in certain events and, on the other, that of team member in the mountains on the major races of the UCI World Tour calendar.
I also want to pass on my experience to younger riders who are the future of the team. And finally, in yet another role, that of a breakaway rider. I want to rediscover the taste of victory, as I managed to do last year in the Tour of the Alps.»
Paul Lapeira: «Continuing my progress»
«I wanted to stay with the AG2R CITROËN team! After my years of training in the programme (U19 and U23) and then my first two seasons as a professional, I want to continue my progress. I am a rider who likes stability, and the environment I am in is perfect for me. After a period of adjustment, I managed to find my place with the riders and staff members, and that is also what reinforced my decision to continue the adventure.
I can see myself improving little by little, and I want to continue in this direction to climb the ladder one step at a time. The next step is to raise my arms. And I want to achieve this quickly.
I would like to thank the entire team for allowing me to continue our shared adventure.»
Oliver Naesen: «Writing new chapters in this wonderful story»
«I am continuing the adventure with the team in a different role from the one I have had for the past seven seasons.
My role as a team member alongside our leaders will become more prominent, and I am committed to continuing to give my all every time I take on this role.
Of course, the classics period will remain an important highlight of my season, when I will be determined to shine. Things have changed a bit in recent years at the highest level, and I want to approach the start of the season differently. I also want to pass on my experience to younger riders.
I know AG2R CITROËN inside out. Remaining loyal to the team is very important to me. I can't wait to write new chapters in this wonderful story.»
Andrea Vendrame: «Achieving maximum success»
«This extension is a very good thing for me. My arrival in the team changed a lot of things four years ago. I feel really good here.
The objective will remain to raise our arms as high as possible, for me, for the team and for all our partners.
I also want to help young people continue to progress and assist my teammates in achieving maximum success.»
Larry Warbasse: «I enjoy my role as captain.»
«I am really happy to continue my journey with the AG2R CITROËN team. I am looking forward to next year and the new projects that are coming up. It is going to be a great season.
I enjoy my role as captain of the team. We have many young riders and it gives me great pleasure to pass on and share my knowledge. This will be my 12th year as a professional. Time flies!
I want to continue helping our leaders perform at the highest level and also seize opportunities when they arise. I am always motivated to take my job seriously and develop to the best of my ability.
Many thanks to the entire AG2R CITROËN team for this new opportunity.»
