Aurélien Paret-Peintre
«A great start after an intense stage»
«I'm happy with the result. I knew it was a great finish that suited my strengths. The team worked very well all day and Callum Scotson put me in the perfect position at the top of the final climb. The descent was winding and caused some breaks, but I was in the right group to contest the stage at the start of the final kilometre. I launched my sprint in the wake of Matthew Brennan, but he quickly pulled ahead. In the end, it's a great second place in a WorldTour race, so I have no regrets. We also gained six bonus seconds. Even if it's not necessarily significant given the difficulties ahead, it's still positive and we'll try to do at least as well tomorrow.»
