«It's pretty crazy, I really wasn't expecting it. Raising my arms for my first professional victory, just like that, in a French Cup race, I'm still trying to take it all in. My role was to follow the moves, and I wasn't feeling great at the start of the race, but things improved as it went on. In the final, I saw Lewis Askey launch the sprint and, as I had momentum, I followed him. In the end, we opened up a small gap and I had a superb sprint. I'm very happy. Bastien (Tronchon) and Paul (Lapeira) didn't make the effort straight away. They told me to go for it, which was a great show of confidence from the team, and I thank them for that.»
