Greg Van Avermaet
«Proud of my achievements»
«A wonderful adventure is coming to an end, and I'm a little sad. This decision was very difficult to make, but when I look back, I'm extremely proud of my achievements.
I gave my best every day, simply so that I would have no regrets. I enjoyed not only my victories but also the journey that led to them.
I would like to thank everyone who believed in me and helped me throughout my career. I am grateful to my supporters who stood by me at all times, even during difficult moments.
It is now time to devote time to my wife and children and to give my life a new direction, hoping to find the same passion there.
I would like to thank the AG2R CITROËN team for their trust and for the team spirit in which I have worked for three seasons. Until the end of the season, I will give my best to the team, as I have done since the day I started cycling. I hope to achieve some good results.»

«A great champion»
«Greg Van Avermaet is a great champion. He enabled us to climb onto the podium of the Tour of Flanders for the first time in 2021.
His dedication, professionalism and human values have been remarkable: he is an example to our entire team. He has left a lasting impression on us both as an athlete and as a person.
We know that until his very last race, he will do everything he can to perform well in the AG2R CITROËN team jersey, and we will do our utmost to support him in this goal.»
